Here's your complete board game convention journey! I captured the full experience from start to finish, including:

  1. The speaker's hunt for Japanese and dual-language games
  2. The waiting in line for Bomb Buster (which was "the number one attraction")
  3. Detailed conversations with multiple publishers, including Colin the localization manager
  4. A showcase of diverse games:
    • Dice Throne (Japanese version)
    • A Japanese language learning game
    • A dot-connecting drawing game
    • A two-player bluffing game with antidotes
    • A local game from Shiga Prefecture
    • A tile placement valley farming game from Australia

The edit follows the entire convention experience across both days, ending with the speaker's journey home after networking and finding 15 different games for their upcoming café in Kanazawa.

Transcript excerpts from the journey:

  • Like I said, I already have two of these, but both in English. So now I need the Japanese version for the cafe. This game seems pretty interesting. And it's dual language.
  • Bombbusters is already going crazy. It's definitely been the number one attraction, I think, this year.
  • I think I ended up with 15 games today of different styles and genres and lengths and languages. I tried to find as many dual language games as I could or games that maybe I already have in English that I needed in Japanese, like Dice Throne.
  • So this is a two-player graphing game where you participate in a Cyclescore experiment. But you are deceived and you got the lethal amount of poison.
  • The point of today is to find some indie small publisher games that I maybe can't find on Amazon or don't get printed often.

The story wraps up with day two of the convention and the speaker's journey home, after successfully finding 15 different games and making valuable connections for their café.

More Transcript excerpts:

  • I'm opening a board game shop in Kanazawa.
  • After standing in line for an hour, I'm only going to places that don't have lines for the rest of the day.
  • I've kind of seen everything I want to. There's fewer crowds today, so I was able to get in and do a bit more.
  • Now it's time to hit the road and sit on trains for a little while.

Let me know if you want to see any changes. We can keep iterating together.
